The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and Prime models are some of the best family SUVs on the market. The RAV4 has always been a top choice, but the Hybrid edition and plug-in Prime add to the fuel economy and provide a fun and engaging performance experience. For buyers in Lompoc who want the room of an SUV but not gas usage, the Hybrid and Prime models of the RAV4 should be under close consideration. You can learn more about why these SUVs stand out right here.

Performance

The two models, the Prime and Hybrid, have different drivetrains. The Prime model, the one with the plugin, has one powertrain. It is an electric motor grouped with a V4 engine. The system makes a combined 302 horsepower and rates for 94 MPGe in hybrid mode or 38 MPG in gas mode. Likewise, the Hybrid has one powertrain. It has a V4 engine and two electric motors. The horsepower output is 219. As for fuel economy, the Hybrid reaches 41 MPG in city conditions and 38 on highways. Both RAV4s have good handling and responsive driving experiences. A big part of the performance comes down to whether you want to manage the plug-in aspect of the vehicle or not. Having the plug gets you more power and uses less gas, but keeping it charged is less convenient for trips around Santa Barbara.

Interior

The interior design of both the Prime and Hybrid RAV4 is excellent near Goleta. It takes a practical approach to its use of materials and layout. This SUV is built to last and stand up to the rigors of family use over several years of ownership. That will give hope to anyone who has had problems with vehicles that did not last. The Prime and Hybrid have a similar physical layout, but the Prime version does come with a larger list of standard features in the interior.

Tech and Safety

From the viewpoint of safety, Toyota has always been known as one of the safest brands, and all the RAV4 variations align with that. The precise list of safety, as well as tech features, will depend on the trim. On the Prime version, there are only two trims. All the safety features and most of the tech is standard on the base trim except for reverse automatic emergency braking. The second trim has wireless charging, a 120-volt power outlet, an emergency braking feature, and several convenience features. The Hybrid, on the other hand, has seven trims. This is a much more complex lineup, but the safety features on the Hybrid's base trim are about the same as on the Prime's base trim. Most tech features focus on the first few trims, but upper trims have a few treats, such as upgrading the touchscreen from 8 inches to 10.5 inches across.
